More Than 300 Attendees Unite for Training on Emerging Ministry Risks at ARM Risk Management Confere

September 26, 2016

Silver Spring, Md. September 26, 2016 – More than 300 registrants attended the bi-annual risk management conference (RMC) hosted by Adventist Risk Management, Inc. (ARM) held from September 12-14. This year’s RMC, titled Navigating Deep Waters: Risk Management Solutions for Today’s Church, addressed risks emerging in today’s church and provided attendees with solutions on how to navigate these liabilities when presented.

For the first time in RMC history, ARM created a conference app for attendees. This new app included a regularly updated schedule, session reminders, and an activity stream where attendees could share photos and vote on polls during the conference. Attendees were also able to rate and make comments about the presentations they attended and presenters.

Breakout and plenary sessions covered various topics including LGBT and same-sex concerns, handling and preventing active shooter situations, cybersecurity, and emergency planning for campgrounds and schools. Attendees also had the chance to discuss topics more in-depth during a new segment titled Power Chats. Some of the questions discussed in the Power Chats included child on child abuse, understanding liabilities, communications crises and summer camp risks.

Tim Northrop, ARM president and CEO, took the stage on Wednesday morning to share his mission and vision for the company as outlined in the Five Focus Points of ARM:

  • Exceptional client experience
  • Professional and competent employee team in a positive and accountable environment
  • Effective processes and systems for clients and employees
  • Innovative insurance and risk management education
  • Strong financial base to meet future challenges and opportunities

Attendees also had the chance to watch an early screening of the new ARM corporate video, which shares ARM’s mission and ministry to care for all Adventist ministries around the world. Click below to watch it now:
