Long Time Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel Robert Burrow Leaves Adventist Risk Management, Inc.

August 25, 2023

Silver Spring, Md. August 25, 2023—Adventist Risk Management®, Inc. (ARM), bids farewell to longtime employee, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, Robert Burrow.

Burrow leaves ARM to join the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists (NAD) headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, to serve as General Counsel. His new role is the first of its kind for the division, which represents Seventh-day Adventists throughout the United States, Canada, Bermuda, and Guam.

“Bob Burrow has faithfully served ARM with distinction and widely recognized quality for many years. The new opportunity he is accepting will continue ARM’s relationship as he serves the church from within one of our largest customers, the NAD. We are looking forward to working with him in his new role, even as we will miss his direct service to ARM,” says James Winegardner, ARM president.

“ARM's mission of protecting the ministry of the church has provided me with the privilege of being involved in some of the toughest problems our church has faced and being involved in the solutions,” says Burrow. “I support ARM and always will,” he adds. “I believe in what ARM does.”

Known to colleagues simply as “Bob,” Burrow began his career at ARM while still a student at Columbia Union College (now Washington Adventist University) in Takoma Park, Maryland. After graduating in 1985 with a degree in Business Management, Burrows continued to work part time for ARM before beginning law school at the University of Maryland in 1987 and continued throughout his training.

After earning his Juris Doctor degree in 1990, Burrow transitioned to full time work first as an Assistant Claims Specialist eventually becoming head of the legal department and a Vice President. He left ARM for a stint in private practice in 1997 but returned in 2001 where he has continued to serve until his recent resignation.
