 Administering Local Insurance

The conference and church relationship is an important one because it defines how the church is organized and works together. When churches try to operate outside of the parameters of this relationship it can expose the conference and the church to liability risks.
In this webinar, you will examine the structure of the relationship and how understanding these issues will help you protect your conference and churches from these risks and gaps in coverage that might arise from a local church seeking to purchase their own insurance or what to expect when you change insurance carriers.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Download the Presentation (PDF 1.7MB)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush. The ADA is one of America's most comprehensive pieces of civil rights legislation that prohibits discrimination and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to participate in the mainstream of American life -- to enjoy employment opportunities, to purchase goods and services, and to participate in State and local government programs and services. Modeled after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin – and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 -- the ADA is an "equal opportunity" law for people with disabilities.

This webinar will give employers an overview of what they need to know in order to best comply with the ADA rules and regulations.

Healthcare in 2015
Download the Presentation (PDF 231KB)
This webinar will focus on the continued need for employers to offer a more affordable health care plan option to their employees.  In 2015 there will be a two-tier plan design – the Legacy Plan and the Standard Plan.  The medical and prescription services will be consistent between these two plans, but the member responsibility (deductible, co-insurance, co-payments, out-of-pocket maximums) will vary between the two plans.

Subsequently, to minimize the Cadillac tax threat, the Plan benefits will be segregated such that the Medical and Prescription benefits are a single plan; the vision, prescription, and carve-out benefits are separate plans.  Federal guidelines have been clarified the Cadillac tax is calculated against “Essential Health Benefits” providing the employee has opportunity to choose or decline the non-essential health benefits (vision, dental, and the carve-out benefits).

One of the important issues employers in the United States face as they adjust to the impact of the Affordable Care Act is the requirement to offer healthcare coverage to employees who work 30+ hours per week effective 1/1/2015.  Eligibility in 2015, is dependent on the average hours worked in 2014 during an established “measurement period”.

In this webinar we will be discussing the measurement process, the three “periods” of the measurement process; timelines, who should be measured; “part-time” versus “seasonal” employees, etc.  It is critical you be fully prepared for 2015. There will also be opportunity for questions during the presentation.
