People manage stress in different ways, but all of us have experienced overwhelming stress levels at one time or another. Not all stress is bad. The different types of stress include “good stress,” which is called eustress. It is a positive form of stress such as a job promotion, holidays, birth of a baby, and studying for an exam. In different situations, eustress motivates and promotes curative and pleasant effects in life. The negative stress many are familiar with is called distress. The prefixes “dis” and “eu” refers to the stressor not the impact of the stressor. This type of stress can contribute to heart disease and should be managed to prevent complications.
