The American population is growing older as the baby boomers are booming well into their 60s. According to the Census Bureau, there is an estimated number of about 78 million baby boomers as of July 1, 2005. There are 7,918 people turning 60 each day in 2006. That amounts to 330 every hour.

It is important to be aware of physical and mental aspects of health. With aging, changes that occur need to be addressed, and education is essential to prevent unnecessary conditions that may affect daily functions. Existing diseases from A to Z thrive to debilitate the elderly, but with appropriate screenings and care, these diseases may be reversible and prevented, and in turn, many lives can be saved.

Remember to exercise often and be active to stimulate your mind and body. Eat right for proper nutrition, know how to take medications the right way, and continue with these tips throughout your retirement for a better quality of life.
