Karnik Doukmetzian, General Counsel Seventh-day Adventist World Headquarters was elected as a director of Adventist Risk Management (ARM) Board(s).
UPDATE: This news release is about a change in role on ARM's Board(s) and does not reflect any change in Karnik Doukmetzian's work as General Counsel of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Silver Spring, MD May 16, 2013 – Adventist Risk Management, Inc. (ARM) today announced that Karnik Doukmetzian was elected to serve as a director on the boards of Adventist Risk Management, Inc. and the Church’s captive insurance company GENCON Insurance Company of Vermont. Doukmetzian fills a position open due to the recent loss of Wayne Taylor who passed away in February of this year after 25 years of service on ARM Board(s).
Doukmetzian is moving from his position as Legal Advisor to the Board(s) to fill this role. (Special note: Karnik Doukmetzian is NOT leaving his position as General Counsel at the World Headquarters, this is a change at the ARM and GENCON board only).
ARM President Bob Kyte said, “Karnik Doukmetzian is a natural addition to the board due not only to his position and legal background but also because of the experience he has with Adventist Risk Management and our business.”
Doukmetzian was appointed General Counsel at the World Headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2009. Before joining the Office of General Counsel, Mr. Doukmetzian worked for Adventist Risk Management for 12 years, mostly as Vice President, responsible for the Legal Services, Claims, Captive Underwriting and Risk Placement Departments. Before joining ARM, he was general counsel, and Trust Services and Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Director for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada.
Doukmetzian earned his law degree from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada. He is licensed to practice law in both the United States and Canada. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the State Bars of the District of Columbia and the State of Tennessee.
