Silver Spring, Maryland) Severe storms slammed Southern US states Wednesday night, leaving more than 200 dead and thousands displaced. Adventist Risk Management (ARM) is working with church leaders in the Southern Union to assess damages and determine the number of Adventist institutions affected. Early reports confirm property damage to church buildings and schools. ARM clients who have experienced loss due to the deadly tornados that have devastated parts of this area, are advised to contact the Adventist Risk Management Claims Department immediately. What to Do After a Tornado
- Remain tuned to local radio and television broadcasts for information.
- When safe to do so, visit the building. Make careful note of all damage. Bring a camera and take photographs. Report broken gas, sewer or water lines to utility providers. Secure the property and take steps to prevent further damage as reasonably practical.
- Notify the conference office of any church or school damage and follow their established protocol for claims reporting.
- Maintain a detailed record of all repairs and costs. Ensure that all work by volunteers or professionals is completed in a safe and correct manner.
